38-Hour Driver Education (Permit) Course
Northwest Driving Academy LLC offers superior Driver Education as a part of Louisiana's Graduated License Program. The 38-hour Driver Education course (30 hours classroom plus 8 hours Behind-the-Wheel) is required for all Teens who are 15-16 years old to receive a Louisiana driver's permit.
If you are 18 or older and will be applying for your driver's license for the first time, register for our 14-HOUR Pre-Licensing course (6-hour classroom with 8 hour Behind-the-Wheel component).
Teens who are 17 years old may opt to apply for either a Learner's Permit or a Full License upon completing the 38-hour driver's education course.
Upon successful completion of this course, your teen is eligible to apply for a Class E - Driver's License Permit.
Our courses and instructors are Approved by the State of Louisiana to provide Driver Education for individuals seeking Class "D" and "E" driver’s License.44

1. Must be a minimum of fifteen (15) years of age*.
2. Must complete thirty (30) hours classroom instruction and eight (8) hours behind-
the-wheel driving instruction.
3. Must pass vision exam at DMV.
4. Must pass (written) knowledge exam with score of at least 80%.
*14 years and 9 months (for Classroom Portion)

After the course the permit holder:
1. Is authorized to drive with a licensed adult at least twenty-one (21) years of age or sibling at least eighteen (18) years of age.
2. Must maintain learner’s license for a minimum of one hundred eighty (180) days.
3. Cannot advance to intermediate stage until attainment of sixteenth (16th) birthday.
